This year’s Emmy Awards red carpet featured a number of seriously show-stopping looks. All your favourite stars all lit up the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles in their dazzling designs. See our selection of the best dressed below:
Emilia Clarke in Atelier Versace
Emilia Clarke, Khalisi, may not have personally picked up any trophies for her work on the GOT series, she certainly looked every inch the champion in her pink, sparkly Atelier Versace evening gown. And it turns out choosing the perfect look for the big night was as simple as saying yes to that dress.
Sofia sizzles on the Emmy award red carpet in a tight cleavage bearing dress. Her one-shoulder gown hugged her incredible curves as she posed for photos. With silver slashes of sparkling detail, Sofia’s NEVER looked better! We have to say, this may be her best red carpet yet! Her look was topped off with a deep, bold red lip and larger-than-life long diamond earrings.
The How to get away with murder star looks dazzling in her pink gown. The bright colour looks amazing against her chocolate black skin.
Tracee Ellis Ross
Tracee looks totally fab in this classic, sleek white Ralph Lauren. But the real stars here are her exceptionally fantastic earrings. Some might call them doorknockers, but our doors should be so lucky.
Taraji P. Henson
She wows in a bright yellow dress as she arrives on the red carpet for the awards, we can’t help but think, lemonade!!
Priyanka Chopra in Jason Wu
So bless you, Priyanka, not just for looking as red-hot as we could hope, but for daring to enjoy it publicly.
Kerry Washington in custom Brandon Maxwell
Kerry Washington has a long history of unusual maternity wear — during her previous pregnancy, she wore a crop top! — and it’s comforting to know that some things are eternal. This frock is fairly understated from the front and then turns extremely dramatic from the side, taking us on a real emotional roller-coaster. Just like an episode of Scandal!
Laverne Cox in Naeem Khan
This dress is gorgeous, and Laverne’s head looks great as usual. But, please, designers, start lining things for the Golden Globes now.
The Modern Family actress, 18, stunned in an illusion gown with art deco–inspired silver beading by Yousef Al-Jasmi. The dress boasted sheer panels at the bodice and on each side, and it featured a high slit. She accessorized the ensemble with diamond studs and metallic ankle-strap sandals.
It’s unusual for a young starlet to bring out a retro-feeling shirt-dress at the Emmys, but leave it to black-ish’s Yara — who has a sense of self, and of style, well beyond her years — to do the unexpected. This is sophisticated and polished and cool. Now that’s how to prove you’re a grown-up.
