Kenya’s political parties primaries continue to shock many as results continue coming in. We have had a watchman voted for an MCA ticket in Kericho. We have had big names such as Wiliam Kabogo losing their tickets. There has also been the drama that led to the arrest of Bishop Margret Wanjiru at Parklands police station yesterday.
The latest shock comes in the form of another big name being floored by a comedian in the Jubilee Party primaries. Former Redikyulass comedian John Kiarie popularly known as KJ has won the Dagoretti South Parliamentary ticket for the Jubilee Party.
KJ pulled this off by getting more votes compared to his close competitor Dennis Waweru. Mr Kiarie got 9793 votes compared to Waweru’s 9051 votes as reported by Citizen TV. Dennis Waweru who at one time was among the dream team that was going after the Governor’s seat in Nairobi. The heat was too much that he decided to go for the parliamentary seat in Dagoretti South.
The decision has haunted the legislator as he has lost out to one of Kenya’s legendary comedians on the former rib-cracking show Redikyulass KJ. We all remember his comic acts on Redikyulass, we hope Dagoretti South guys will be entertained soon.
