We knew you could do it girl! As Kenyans we are super proud of Miss Evelyn Njambi as she made it to the top 5 finalists in the Miss World held on the 18th December 2016 at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, United States just south of Washington, D.C.
The 21 year old competed against 119 other beauties from across the world are participating in the beauty contest. Unlike 16 years ago when Kenya also made it to the finals, Evelyn Njambi did us proud with a good answer to her question.
Question from Miss World 1988 Linda Petursdottir of Iceland:
What can you do to improve education in the world?
Answer: What we can do to improve education in the world… Obviously, it begins with empowering every child to understand that education is important, and Nelson Mandela said that it is the weapon that a child can use to face the future. So first let’s educate our parents that education is important and then we shall have all children on board to achieve their dreams.
A great answer however it still did not see her win the Miss World title.
In the end, Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico was crowned Miss World 2016 edging out runners-up from the Dominican Republic and Indonesia, and our lovely Evelyn Njambi.
Del Valle, 19, is a brown-eyed brunette student who speaks Spanish, English and French, and hopes to get into the entertainment industry.
First runner-up was Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic, followed by Miss World Indonesia Natasha Mannuela.
Congratulations Miss World Kenya!
