The biggest club competitions in Europe reached the semi final stage last night after what has been an entertaining show since they started September last year. The UEFA Champions League now has four teams remaining which is also the case in the UEFA Europa League.
Real Madrid who are the defending champions qualified for the semi finals on Tuesday night this week after beating Bayern Munich from Germany. Atletico Madrid who are also from Spain also qualified by beating what many have called a miracle team Leicester City from England. Juventus from Italy also qualified by beating heavy weights Barcelona 3-0 on aggregate. Monaco FC from France also beat Borrusia Dortmund from Germany to progress.
The UEFA Europa League also saw four teams remaining after last night’s matches. Lyon from France managed to qualify inviting Celta Vigo from Spain in the same bracket. Manchester United from England managed to win 3-2 on aggregate against Anderletch. Ajax from Netherlands also qualified.
The draw for the UEFA Champions League Semi finals has been done with Real Madrid meeting Atletico Madrid in an all Spanish derby on the 2nd of May with the second leg coming on 9th of the same month. Juventus FC will try to tame hotshots AS Monaco on the 3rd of May with the second leg following a week later. The finals are slated for 1st June in Cardiff, Wales.
UEFA Europa League will see favorites Manchester United take on Celta Vigo from Spain. Ajax will square it out with Lyon for a place in Stockholm Sweden for the finals.
