The University of Nairobi on Monday 29th August 2016 announced on there twitter handle the commencement of the 55th graduation ceremony that will subsequently use the hash tag #UoNGraduation2016. The Friday September 2nd event is expected to see shortlisted students from Colleges of Agriculture & Veterinary Sciences, Biological & Physical Sciences, Architecture and Engineering and Education and External studies celebrate their merits.

The university hosts two graduation ceremonies every year. The 56th Graduation ceremony is to be held in December at a pre-determined date.

This year marks the first term in office for the varsity’s VC Prof. Mbithi and last term for the third-term serving students’ leader Babu Owino. Among what the class of 2016 is to be remembered for is hosting the Nairobi Innovation Week, launching the Prof. Wangari Maathai institute of Peace and Environmental studies among other ceremonious achievements.

The university graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 commencing at 8.00 a.m. at the Chancellor’s Court. Students are urged to hire their graduation gowns before by Thursday 1st of August. Only invited members of the students family and friends will be allowed into the graduation arena. Normally, one student gets invites for only two guests.

 

Rehearsal ahead of the ceremony is due on schedule on Thursday 1st August, just a day to the Ceremony as is often the tradition. By Friday, the Daniel’s day, all students and their guest are expected to have settled by as early as 7.00 a.m.

The guest speaker is not yet announced but speculations are that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta will be in attendance, having also seen through the launch of Dr. Wangari Maathai Campus.

On the same vein, the University of Nairobi is in a jubilation mood after the finish on construction of one of the tallest buildings in Nairobi; The UoN Towers named after businessman Mr. Chandaria who sponsored much of the funds needed for the building.
