Kisumu RFC are on course to return to the Kenya Cup after progressing to Championship semis with a 26-8 win over MMUST on Sat April 27, 2019 in Kisumu. 

Kisumu RFC is expected to play the semis alongside Catholic Monks R.C at the Catholic University grounds. The match is scheduled to be on 11th May2019 at 3 P.M Kenyan time. Kisumu RFC will be fighting to make it to the finals.

Other teams that are expected also to play in the semis include: USIU vs Western Bulls.

Kisumu Rugby football club Achievements has been on the reign in the year 2015 and they  were once crowned the Christle 7 Shield Winners as well as Dala 7s Shield winners in the year 2015.

In the set semi finals Kisumu RFC will be meeting Catholic Monks R.C, a team which is managed by the Catholic University of East Africa and it has also recorded good performances since the 2019 rugby league commenced. In 2016 for instance, Catholic Monks managed to achieve the nationwide league championship, Great Rift 10s(Nakuru 10s) Bowl champions as well as Prinsloo 7s Shield winners in 2015.

The two teams that shall be in the finals are going to be promoted to the 2019/20 Kenya Cup replacing Mean Machine and Strathmore Leos who were the reigning champions in the previous rugby cup.
