5 Factors You Can Use to Spot a Cult

(Last Updated On: December 4, 2014)

With the Paul Magu drama going on, I realized that as Kenyans we are quite ambitious and will do a lot if not anything to get ahead. It’s sad that the revelation was that some years into the marriage he became very religious and begun travelling frequently to Nigeria.  Eventually it goes that he killed his whole family and transferred his properties to the pastor. Perhaps he got involved unknowingly, who knows?

Here’s a list of factors that can help you differentiate a cult from other organisations.

1.  Secrecy

Cults are secretive organisations. The members know each other but beyond that it’s all hush hush. Sadly some churches and organisations have been infiltrated and cults use these as hunting ground to acquire new members. When an individual joins s/he shouldn’t announce it to the family because it’s not a new job; it’s the beginning of the end.
