It took three years but it looks as though fans are finally getting what they asked for.

It has been revealed that Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o will co-star in a movie directed by Ava DuVernay for Netflix.

The 29-year-old songstress and 34-year-old Oscar winner will team up for the highly-anticipated project.

According to sources at Entertainment Weekly Netflix secured the rights to the movie after a dramatic negotiation session at the Cannes Film Festival.

The concept for a movie with these two superstars began as a Twitter sensation.

Ava DuVernay, who directed Selma, will direct, and Issa Rae, executive producer of Insecure, is writing the screenplay.

According to sources, Netflix beat out multiple other networks in an aggressive bid, despite having no comment on the matter.

The project started after a meme of Rihanna and Lupita went viral.

It was a photo of the duo sitting on the front row at the Miu Miu fashion show in 2014.

Fans couldn’t handle seeing the two juggernauts in the same frame and they immediately started tweeting about making it into a movie.

Rihanna and Lupita then exchanged some tweets to one another saying they’d be on board if the project was picked up.

The 12 Years A Slave actress tweeted at Rihanna: ‘I’m down if you are,’ the Diamonds singer then responded: ‘I’m in Pit’z.’ (short for Lupita)

Issa also got in on the action and tweeted at both of them.

No official story line or character details have been revealed at this point.
