Daniel Craig has made it official: He’ll be returning for another movie as James Bond.

After months of gossip and denials, Craig confirmed to Stephen Colbert on the Late Show he would return to the franchise for a yet-to-be-titled film due out in November 2019.

The 49-year-old actor’s stewardship of James Bond has spanned four films — and now will go for a fifth — but it has generated enough rumors to power the kind of explosive device Bond is usually trying to stop.

Yet still, the next actor to play Bond still disturbs a lot of 007 fans. With the likes of Tom Hardy in the forefront, many have also lobbied for a first female 007 like Charlize Theron or even a Black 007 like Idris Elba.

Craig acknowledged on Colbert that his return had been settled months ago, meaning he was evading questions about Bond as recently as that morning when he told a Boston radio station that “no decision has been made”.

And even as he confirmed he was returning, Craig suggested it will be his last one.

“I think this is it,” he said.

“I just want to go out on a high note.”
