BABUIt is now official. Fears that top SONU contender Babu Owino would not be allowed to vie for the presidency seat have now been confirmed.

Following a senate meeting held today by the administration and the outgoing SONU executive members, an agreement barring Babu from vying was reached by consensus. This is because he had already held the same position before, in the 2011/2012 academic year.

This means that only two contenders, Philbert Kongola and Wakoli Kunani are left in the race for the election to be held on 11th April 2014.

The senate also agreed on the following:

  • No candidate can defend any executive seat even if it means its after 5 yrs
  •  The incoming executive will nominate two students each except the chairman who will nominate 5 and the Secretary General 3
  • The nomenclature for the Chairman will not be changed to President, same to the running mate as Vice Chair and Campus Reps will also not be called Governors
