SPORTSBamburi Cement Limited unveiled a Ksh 20 million sponsorship package for the 2014 Bamburi Rugby Super Series that will take place from 26 April to 7 June across five towns and cities in Uganda and Kenya.
Speaking during the sponsorship launch at the Bamburi Cement offices on Tuesday 11 March 2014, Kenya Rugby Union Chairman Mwangi Muthee said, “It is time to announce the advance preparation for the annual Bamburi Rugby Super Series tournament. This rugby competition is the most critical in accelerating the development of Elite XVs rugby in our country.”

This year’s tournament will be contested by six teams; a break from recent times where eight teams has been taking part. Kenya has four franchises namely defending champions Ndovu, Papa, Kifaru and Papa. Kifaru is the universities franchise previously known as Kengewa and Sharks in previous editions while Chui is the franchise that previously played as Nyumbu in last year’s tournament.
