Tuesday morning was a horrifying experience for many UoN students as an explosion occurred at the University of Nairobi (Main Campus) at the Civil Engineering block.

A source stated that the explosion occurred after an unknown device was thrown at the civil engineering block from the Central Police station which is adjacent to the premises.

Reports also indicate that there are no faculty members or students hurt and all the students have subsequently been evacuated from the building. Senate members convened a meeting to discuss the incident following speculations that it could be a terrorist attack.

“I think this is as a result to the chaos at the Central Police station, that is why the institution has been affected,”

he commented. The opposition supporters converged at the station earlier Tuesday morning protesting the arrest and detention of Miguna Miguna.

Miguna Miguna has since refused to take plea in Kajiado, demands to be referred to Nairobi. The High Court further directed the DPP to appear before court at noon to confirm whether Miguna was indeed charged.
