Following an explosive interview where Ronaldo criticized the club and manager Erik ten Hag, Manchester United stated that they had initiated appropriate steps. They have now announced that the Portuguese superstar will be leaving the Red Devils.
Undoubtedly, this does not come as a surprise. Seeing that Ronaldo stated in said interview that he does not respect Hag. Manchester United, through this decision, has made its stand to stick by manager Hag over the player.
A statement from Manchester United read, “Christiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect. The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future. “
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
