This comes after NYS deployed 27 buses to ferry commuters in Nairobi. Their price range dropped from Sh 50 to Sh 20. However, this has not been welcomed well by all, Matatu Owners Association have cited it as interfering with their business due to the competition the NYS buses will bring. They went on to complain the competition was unconducive for the Matatu Business.
Public Service and Youth Cabinet Secretary, Margaret Kobia, told the senate the move was to help stabilize Commuter fares and decongest traffic jams.
It was also a move that saw them solve the outcry of commuters who complained of being exploited by the PSV drivers with the unreliable fare charges.
The deployed buses will start being in action as from next week.
