All roads led to Ngong Racecourse on Sunday for the annual CBA Concour D’elegance. Since this was the 46th edition vintage cars and motorcycles from various parts of Africa and Kenya were represented and showcased. The countries included Uganda,South Africa and Kenya. The car models included Alfa Romeo,Honda,Rolls Royce,Mercedes Benz and Chevrolet. The motorcycle models include Harley Davidson’s, Ducatis, Yamaha, BMW, Kawasaki and Suzuki.
There were also modern speed bay bikes and cars on sale.Photobooths had also been setup to take nice photographs with templates of vintage cars and bikes that was quite popular throughout the day. There was also a VIP lounge area that was setup by Sarova Panafric to wine and dine with their CBA clients which was quite enticing. The kids had a play area with face painting and nice games to keep them busy.
Then there was a parade done by a band, showcasing the best of every entry of cars and bikes. Then the prize giving ceremony was done which was quite colorful having confetti and parachute men to celebrate the victory. This year though there were fewer entries and slightly less people in attendance considering the traffic and security checks that were done from the main road all the way through to the Ngong Racecourse grounds.
Thereafter to set the evening mood,DJ Joe Mfalme took to the decks spinning dancehall, hiphop and african tunes.Fena Gitu then performed for about 30 minutes doing hit songs from her self-titled album like ‘Brikicho’,her own rendition of ‘Work’,’Do It Dutch’ and ‘Phenomenal Woman’.Dj Joe played another set for afew minutes before Hart The Band came onstage. They did songs like ‘Love You’,’Nikikutazama’,’Love Phobic’,’Uliza Kiatu’,’Cool Down’,and ‘Baby Love’.It was quite interesting to watch them as they fused spoken word with their music that came out so beautifully.Their performance was also about 30 minutes.
The crowd were super excited about those performances and even danced in the rain until the music was turned off for them to leave the grounds. It was a great day for the whole family as people from all walks of life enjoyed the food, music, drinks and basic ambience as Wanjira and Soulo of Capital FM did a live facebook coverage.
