There was a light earthquake that hit several counties in Kenya yesterday at around 7:00pm in the evening.
This led to fears and screams from people at the affected areas and some even moved from their buildings and watch whether they will be left homeless did the tremor cause damages.
The counties included Nairobi, Nyeri, Mombasa, Machakos, Makueni, Tharaka Nithi, Taita Taveta and Kiambu.
The Kenya Meteorological Department confirmed the earthquake but said there is no cause for alarm.
The tremor has left cracks in some parts of the country’s roads and motorist have been cautioned.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has advised motorists to avoid the Mai Mahiu-Naivasha road after Sunday’s earth tremor caused a fault line on a bridge near Fai Amarillo factory.
Private vehicle operators have been advised to use the main Kamandura – Limuru – Kinungi – Naivasha Highway.
On the other hand, heavy commercial vehicle operators have been urged to excercise caution and restraint, and to follow traffic flow directions that are being provided by the Traffic Police Department.
