UP/ROOT: WHO AM I? LIVE PODCAST RECORDING

Village Market
Nairobi, Kenya

Who am I?

Identity through race religion and language.

December 11th marks the one-year anniversary of Up/Root the Podcast and we are celebrating with a live show at Trademark Hotel, Village Market! This year had 19 episodes and of those – 7 have been live events!
On December 11th, there will be a live recording to explore identity through race, religion, and language. Three incredible guests will be sharing their stories:
Sam Imende, Head of Property at Java House the son of a Ugandan mother, Kenyan father and attended international schools who has a complex relationship with his mother tongue – an experience many of us can relate to.

Dr. Huwaida Bulhan-Betts describes herself as part-Indian, fully-Kenyan, newly-American and visibly-Muslim. She has so much to offer all of us!
And finally, Jason Dunford is familiar to many Nairobians and is a Kenyan Olympic swimmer, media personality and now, one half of the rap duo Romantico & Samaki Mkuu. I have so many questions for him!
And the night will be hosted by comedienne extraordinaire Sharon “Shazz” Nderitu, there will be live music, cupcakes and it’s a great way to celebrate the holidays and enjoy the enriching conversation!
Doors open at 6 pm and tickets are 1,000kes and are available at https://mookh.co/ZZZEbi/
Lilly Bekele – Piper absolutely cannot wait to meet everyone there and share this special conversation and night with YOU!
