Fake Phones Seized In Nairobi’s Luthuli Avenue

Five suspects have been arrested after a raid in Nairobi’s Luthuli Avenue where fake phones worth 8 million shillings were seized.

The Anti-Counterfeit Authority are reported to have confiscated counterfeit mobile phones and phone accessories.

Accessories, that included chargers, phone covers, batteries and earphones were also confiscated by the authority after receiving complaints from phone manufacturer Samsung.

Speaking after the crackdown, the ACA Chief Inspector Ibrahim Bule said five suspects were arrested during the raid further urging other brand manufacturers to come out in the fight against counterfeit products.

“This is a crackdown that will continue. The agency has now focused completely on cracking down on all illicit and counterfeit products and will get rid of all of them from the market,” said Bule.
