Police are on the look out for 5 students at Daystar University who are being accused of theft in the institution.
Apparently, the five students have been accused of stealing a whooping Ksh 60,000 and a cell phone containing confidential information from the security officer’s office at the private institution. However another case of the arrest of the Daystar University Students Association Chairman, Aloys Otieno has been met with an outburst from the students who claim that the arrest was a cover up of the deteriorating Daystar’s security office.
The DUSA Chairman was later released on a cash bail and Kilimani OCPD confirmed the arrest and went on to say that the five students had been singled out to allow investigations to continue. However, the acting Deputy Vice- Chancellor in charge of academics, Bernard Boyo revealed that he had written to the OCPD to allow the institutions to investigate the matter internally.
The institution has been experiencing massive corruption and lack of transparency in the funds dealings. Reports of Ksh 40 Million disbanded to the institution to admit law students had not been revealed how it was used. Demonstrations from the students and the University Students Association led to the VC being sacked .
