Foods to prevent you from getting a cold and flu during this cold season

This cold weather is definitely inevitable, it’s the season for getting colds now. However, this can be prevented by watching what you eat. It’s best to avoid cold drinks right now, yes even those ice cream dates! There are certain foods you can eat to prevent you from getting a cold and any other viral diseases.

Here’s a guide on what foods to include in your daily diet:

Black tea

According to a research from Harvard University, it proved that if someone takes 5 cups of black tea a day for two weeks improved their immune system. They were able to fight colds and flu ten times than before. Black tea that is prepared with lemongrass, ginger and other spices is the best to serve this purpose.

Garlic

Taking about two or three cloves of garlic every day boosts immunity and helps keep viral infections away from your body. They are also good for fighting anti-fungal and antibacterial infections. If taking raw garlic is a challenge, you can try adding it to a mixture of lemon juice.

Oranges and lemons

Fruits like oranges, lemons, lime, and tomatoes are rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C helps in boosting immunity, therefore, preventing you from getting diseases like colds.

Yogurt

Researchers have found that yogurt contains a bacteria called Lactobacillus reuteri that reduces the susceptibility of catching a cold. This bacteria was found to produce immune substances that help in protecting the body from flu and cold.
