Gikomba Fire: 15 People Feared Dead, over 60 Injured

At least 15 people are feared dead and over 60 others seriously injured in a Thursday morning (Today) fire that took down a section of Gikomba.

Many of those affected are said to be traders in Gikomba Market who may have been trying to salvage their property.

According to emergency service provider St John’s Ambulance, the injured people were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital and other city hospitals for treatment. Traders are said to have lost property worth millions in the 2:00 am fire.

Gikomba Market is well known for second hand clothes and this is not the first fire incident happening at the market leaving many speculating that someone has to be behind the frequent fires in the market.
