Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader Governor Alfred Mutua has proposed new rules and regulations that he says everyone will have to adhere to as long as they are in his county (Machakos) lest they will pay for it, literally.
Most of the proposed laws are road related especially with the loss of 10 pupils from ST. Gabriel Academy being so fresh in most people’s minds.
Top of the list is that school drivers found operating their vehicles past 6:59 PM will not only be arrested but will also pay an amount of Ksh 50,000 fine.
Secondly, “smoking” vehicles are not needed in Machakos.
The next time you want to go to Machakos with such a vehicle you better be ready to spend some time behind bars and you might also set aside a total amount of Ksh 150,000.
Obstruction will lead to a possible arrest while littering in Machakos will lead to a possible arrest or Ksh 15,000 collective responsibility.
According to the Machakos governor, if the proposals will see the light of the day they could stop what he terms as “massacre” on our roads.
While the proposals are yet to be passed countrywide, he does point out that anybody caught breaking them in Machakos will pay dearly which means they could already be effective in the county.
