Intelligence can be explained as the ability to do something difficult in the simplest way. I personally believe that’s why we are the most intelligent beings on the planet. We have been doing this since time in memorial. It’s our thing and we do it perfectly; Sometimes with no regards to the consequences.
GMO products have been a topic of discussion since I was learning parts of an insect and I doubt the conversation will be finalized any time soon. Many agree that the issue on these genetically modified products should have been settled years ago based on the simple fact that they are harmful when consumed however some still argue and are ready to fight for them to be served in people’s homes. Why? Because the farm produce is much larger than the one guaranteed by our normal seeds. Should we call this greed or a solution for the hunger problem being experienced in the country?
Immense research has been done on this method of farming and not only is it harmful to the human body but to the environment in general. Moreover, the seeds can only be cultivated using their own pesticides as they cannot grow using the regular farm implements. Doesn’t this sound like a lucrative business venture? “Use my seeds as it will bring in more for less. However. you can only use my farm implements and don’t worry about the consequences. We can eat this for centuries to come.”
Learning from other people’s mistakes is a sign of wisdom. In my opinion, our leaders could easily observe the consequences being faced by countries such as Brazil which went down the GMO path and decide the best fate for the nation. It really is as simple as that. However, I still give them the benefit of doubt. Could this be the only solution for the rising hunger problem in the country?
