“Jowie” moved to Manyani Prison

Murder Suspect Jowie Irungu has officially been transferred to Manyani Prison in Voi . He has been behind bars for over an year now after being arrested.

Jowie was arrested and remained behind bars after being accused of murdering Ms. Monica Kimani. The high profile murder that generated a lot of queries. His co-accused was journalist Jackie Maribe who was freed on one condition that he should continue attending court cases.

Last week when Jowie was summoned he pleaded with the judge to release him.  A plead that the judge didn’t bother to hear it out.

However, speaking to the Nation, Jowie’s mother – Anastacia – expressed concern over the move saying “It’s like they want to do something to him.”

“The prison officer says it’s a normal transfer but our lawyer says he has never heard of something like that,” she said.

Jowie’s lawyer, Prof. Hassan Nandwa, also told the local daily that he had not filed any application for his transfer from Nairobi to the Taita Taveta County prison.
