Celebrated radio artist Kalekye Mumo has launched the video to her new single ‘Rescue’. She has dubbed it as ‘a thanksgiving’ to society seeing how far she has come. Speaking during the launch on Wednesday night at Klubhouse in Parklands, the KISS 100 morning show radio presenter said the song is meant to inspire and uplift. Produced by legendary music producer RKay, the video was shot locally and is sung in both English and Swahili and also Kalekye’s local dialect Kamba.
Incredibly consistent, the video is making a big statement and in a way enhances our experience of the music and offers us an interpretation of the meanings that would otherwise remain hidden. The event was graced by some of the biggest names with Kenyan entertainment industry including H_rt the Band of the ‘Uliza Kiatu’ fame, TV and radio host Willy M Tuva, the iconic Deejay Flash amongst a host of others.
The ever-vibrant Kalekye Mumo can only promise fans better things to come. Fans also got the chance to watch her perform the song live and she did not disappoint, delivering an electric performance that wowed the crowd and left them asking for more. Crediting her success to her fans support, she could only give gratitude and love back, hence the inspiration behind her new single ‘Rescue’.
This new video is a testament that Kenyan music has come of age and we therefore need to support and appreciate our very own homegrown talent. This being her fourth single to be released after she made her debut in the music industry with the release of ‘My Baby’, Kalekye has proved she is not a one-hit-wonder and she is in the music industry to stay. Her passion to the course is very evident in her music.
