Rapper Kanye West is allegedly seeking to launch his own streaming service similar to his former friend and current rival Jay-Z’s Tidal. This won’t be the first time he’s dived into entrepreneurship since he has a fashion and shoe line.
Functions of the Application
The 40 year old has submitted a trademark application for a similar enterprise which would be dubbed Yeezy Sound. The application states the trademark would be for the purposes of ‘streaming of music, audio, images, video and other multimedia content over the internet.’
West claimed he is owed a whopping $3.5 million from Jay Z’s Tidal for unpaid advances and bonuses for his The Life of Pablo album.
This may make his relationship with Jay-Z even more complicated than it already is seeing as the two who once made an album together (Watch The Throne) will now be competing business-wise. The two’s relationship turned sour after it was alleged that Jay and his wife Beyoncé were not fans of West’s wife Kim Kardashian. Kanye ranted about Jay-Z on stage complaining about his behaviour and Jay-Z responded by spitting bars about him on his 4:44 album.
