Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers raided an Al-Shabaab base in Baadhade, Somalia on Sunday 26; killing 31 Al-Shabaab terrorists, injured some and destroyed two of their vehicles in an incident that involved artillery fire and helicopter gunships. The killings come more than a month after KDF personnel killed 57 terrorists in Afmadow area and two months after the troops were attacked at a camp in Kulbiyow.
“KDF successfully conducted a raid and destruction on two Al-Shabaab command and logistics bases in Baadhere District in Jubaland, Somalia,” said KDF spokesman Col Joseph Owuoth.
He further confirmed that KDF managed to seize 11 AK 47 rifles, two anti-tank machine guns, four Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), communication equipment, several uniforms, a roll of detonating cable and 634 assorted bullets from the base.
Col Owuoth reiterated that KDF soldiers remain vigilant and will continue to relentlessly pursue the terrorists to ensure Kenya’s peace and security, as well as support AMISOM operations in order to stabilize Somalia.
