Kenyan Film, Watu Wote, Nominated for an Oscar

Watu Wote, a Kenyan film about the bus attack in Mandera in late 2015 has been nominated for an Oscar. It has been nominated in the Best Live Action film category. The award show is set to take place on the 4th of March.

Watu Wote premiered in Nairobi on Tuesday 23rd at Westgate shopping mall. So far, the film has already won 35 awards at varying film festivals.

The film was inspired by a terrorist attack on a bus in Mandera on the 21st of December 2015 where several people were killed and others wounded. Muslims shielded the Christians on the bus from the terrorists.

The film itself was originally made in 2016 by German students from Hamburg Media School and Kenyans.
