Kenyatta University’s students undertook a noble cause on 29th January 2016 with their Somesha Mwenzako Marathon which was organized for the purpose of raising funds for students who unable to do so on their own.
This event arranged by the students for the students commenced at 10 a.m. Warm ups together with some amazing music filled the campus grounds at Bishop’s Gate.
After the warm up and a few words from Vice Chancellor Olive Mugenda as well as Member of Parliament Isaac Mwaura who was also in attendance, the marathon commenced.
The students were to run all round designated points of the school and reassemble back at the Bishop Square where the marathon was flagged off.
The marathon was impressive as the disabled students in the school also participated and finished the race.
A few students succumbed to the tire that came with running and there were a few faints here and there that were dealt with efficiently by the First Aid club.
After, the participating students were given time to rest and the winners announced.
More games took place like races among different participating groups at the marathon including Huawei Team.
Aside from racing with the students, the Huawei Team got to interact with the students as they told them more about their products on display on that day.
