It is the ‘season of handshakes’ and many politicians seem very interested in shaking former president Daniel Arap Moi’s hand.

It is the thirst for shaking the former president’s hand that has now seen Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen attack Gideon Moi in a couple of incidents. He is claiming that he has barred other leaders from accessing the retired president.

The senator claims Gideon Moi first vets people to see who is loyal to him before taking them to his father.

This sentiments however have sparked a lot of criticism and furious reactions from Rift Valley leaders.

Moiben Member of Parliament, Silas Tiren, advised Mr. Murkomen to first go ask for blessings from his own father before asking to go ask for blessings from other people’s father.

Clearly Rift valleys leaders seem to strongly support  the former president’s son who has now declared his interest in the presidential seat come 2022.
