Lecturers to Start Talks on Pay Yet Again

University lecturers are set to begin talks on pay today, Monday the 18th for a new CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement). The meeting between them and the UASU (Universities Academic Staff Union) will take place at Jacaranda Hotel in Nairobi. Federation of Kenya Employers will be present too.

“Kindly plan to attend the meeting as scheduled. The agenda will be to prepare for the 2017-2021 CBA,”

said the University of Nairobi deputy vice-chancellor and chairman of the negotiating comimittee, Prof. Isaac Mbeche. The talks are set to end by the 31st of January 2018.

Any pending internal 2013 – 2017 CBA should also be concluded by the 28th of February next year.

“All outstanding employers’ contributions to pensions accruing from the 2010-2013 and 2013-2017 CBAs be factored in the 2018/2019 budget and be paid to the employees’ retirement benefits schemes,” stated the agreement signed last week.
