lenovo-logo-hd-wallpaperThrough a mixture of cash and stock, Lenovo is buying Motorolla from
Google for a whooping $ 2.91 billion. However, Google will still hold
ownership of most of Motorolla patents while only 2000 patents will go
to the Chinese owned, Lenovo. This is what Larry Page (Google’s CEO)
had to say regarding the offer “Lenovo has the expertise and track
record to scale Motorola Mobility into a major player within the
Android ecosystem. This move will enable Google to devote our energy
to driving innovation across the Android ecosystem, for the benefit of
smart phone users everywhere.” This was a move aimed at expanding the
Android market to counter the now rising Windows Operating Systems in
smart phones. Lenovo opted to buy Motorolla as a second option after
their earlier bid to buy Blackberry was blocked. Lenovo hopes to use
Motorolla to infiltrate the US markets.
