English Premier League club Liverpool on Sunday night announced the sacking of head coach Brendan Rodgers after a string of inconsistent results.

Liverpool announced that Rodgers contract had been terminated with immediate effect on their official website after the club was held to 1-1 draw in the Mersyside derby against Everton.

Liverpool’s performances this season have been unconvincing with the club lying at tenth position after 8 matches and it is inevitable that a club of Liverpool’s caliber who should be challenging for titles every year would keep the manager if he fails to deliver.

No announcement on Rodgers’ replacement is imminent but the club is reported to be keen on recruiting former Borrusia Dortmund Coach Jurgen Klopp who left the German club last summer of Ex- Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
