Kenyan born US-based actress Lupita Nyong’o elated after she’s named best actress in the movie Us
Kenyan born US-based Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o has made another step higher after winning an award for the best actress.
Lupita won the title in the New York Film Critics Circle 2019 awards which were announced on Wednesday, December 4.
An elated Lupita took to her Instagram account and shared a screenshot of the same photo and thanked the NYFCC for the recognition.
“What can I say? New York! Thank you for this recognition,” she wrote.

The award was in recognition of the 2019 American horror movie, Us, where she starred alongside Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker.
In the film, Lupita played the role Adelaide Wilson whose family was attacked by a group of doppelgangers.
Recently, the star was featured in Ciara’s new song dubbed Melanin.
She also made a huge milestone after releasing her first children’s book titled Sulwe.
New York Film Critics Circle was founded by Wanda Hale of the New York Daily News in 1935.
This would be their 85th award ceremony to be held on January 7, 2020, at the New York Film Critics’ annual gala.
