A man has been charged with the shooting death of Davy Easterling, the security guard of Chicago rapper Twista. Easterling was found dead in February following a fire in the South Chicago neighborhood, Sun-Times Media Wire reported.

Two days before Easterling was found, Twista (real name: Carl Terrell Mitchell) had been posting on social media that “a close friend” and security guard was missing.

Twista gained conderable acclaim for his Chopper style of rapping, and for once holding the title of fastest rapper in the world, which was granted to him by Guinness World Records in 1992 (he was able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds).

Matthew X. Jackson, 25, is charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed robbery for the Feb. 21 attack, police News Affairs said in a statement, according to STMW. Easterling, 31, was found dead after crews responded in the morning to a fire at a home in South Chicag, according to authorities. The fire began in the rear bedroom, where Easterling was found with gunshot wounds to the throat and chest, authorities said.

An autopsy found that Easterling died from several gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide. Authorities have identified Jackson as the alleged shooter, the statement said.

Jackson will reportedly appear in court for a bond hearing Thursday.
