Maranda High School Closed Indefinitely Due To Student Unrest

Maranda High School in Bondo, Siaya County was yesterday shut down indefinitely following unrest in the school.

Students from the once top school academically are said to have cited poor diet, mismanagement of the institution and mistreatment of students by the administration as the reasons for their wanting to go on strike.

Some students were issued with suspension letters as the all school was breaking to give room for investigations into the matter. This came the same day Members of Parliament suggested installation of CCTV cameras in schools to ensure that students are in safe learning environments.
