Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has a new Chancellor. President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Dr. Peter Wanyaga Muthoka to be the university’s new chancellor for the next five years as of Friday 15th.
“In the exercise of the powers conferred to me by section 38 (1) (a) of the university Act 2012, Laws of Kenya, I appoint Peter Muthoka to be a Chancellor of MMUST for a period of five years,” said Kenyatta’s gazette notice.
Dr. Muthoka replaces former president Mwai Kibaki who was the university’s former Chancellor by default since the college gained university status 10 years ago.
Dr. Muthoka previously worked at KCB, founded the College of Banking and Finance of Kenya, founded the Export Promotion Council of Kenya and was Kenya Commissioner General at Expo 2000 in Germany.
His first official duty was presiding over the varsity’s 12th graduation ceremony on the 15th of December.
