At 19 years, many young people are fully dependent on their parents or guardians, with a majority of them not knowing how to make their own money. But for this young man, his story is different. Meet the CEO of Quartie Photography, Michael O’Brian, as he tells his story;
WHO IS BRIAN? KINDLY GIVE US A BRIEF ON WHO YOU ARE:
I’m 19 years old and son to a single parent who fell in love with the camera from a little age and has now grown into a full professional.
YOU ARE THE C.E.O OF QUARTIE PHOTOGRAPHY, WHAT EXACTLY IS QUARTIE ALL ABOUT?
Quartie offers a wide range of services including outdoor photography, personal shoots, nature, product photography, events and birthday parties, graphic design (posters, tickets, book covers, magazine covers, music album covers etc).
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE PHOTOGRAPHY, A FIELD THAT IS ALREADY DOMINATED BY BIG NAMES?
Like any other venture, this is not devoid of challenges. There is way too much competition in the industry but with the right work ethics and passion for the job, it is quite easy to establish a name.
WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN CHALLENGES?
Clients are quite tricky to handle at times, with different expectations and demands. And also equipment is quite expensive.
WHERE EXACTLY ARE YOU BASED?
I am a freelance photographer and I offer my services within the locality of Nairobi. I can easily be reached via email on Quartiedesigns@gmail.com or via cellphone on 0710312600.
WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE QUARTIE IF I WANT PHOTOGRAPHY?
The unique thing about Quartie is difference. We try to be different from the rest and strive to be the best of the best.
AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHAT DO YOU INTEND TO ACHIEVE?
My ultimate purpose is to leave a mark. To show people you can start from nothing to something. I intend to put a smile on the face of every client who seeks the services of Quartie Photography.
