Evans Njoroge, the Meru University Student leader had his life tragically cut short by a trigger-happy policeman.

However shocking details have emerged over what caused his demise.

Eyewitnesses at Nchiru, a village near the institution stated that a police officer chased down Njoroge to a nearby farm and shot him.

The students were peacefully demonstrating over the fees increment and that’s where Evans famously known as Kidero by his comrades met his untimely death.

Further details by the witnesses say that the policeman who shot Njoroge can be positively identified as before he shot Evans he had asked for his whereabouts before chasing after him and shot.

It seems the police had already targeted at student leaders. The officer who shot at Evans was dressed as an Administration police officer but changed out of the uniform and remained with a T-shirt before leaving for a waiting car.

Politicians and public figures are on the forefront calling out for police impunity.

One Lawyer Nelson Havi has volunteered to take up the case with the permission of Evan’s family.

Njoroge was a fourth year student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
