Mesut Ozil gave Arsenal the winning goal after chipping the ball over goalkeeper Milan Borjan’s head, controlling the bounce and wrong-footing his way past two defenders before sliding the ball home and booking Arsenal’s place in the last-16. The Gunners rallied back from two goals down to beat Ludogorets 3-2.

The night didn’t start out well for Arsenal after conceding to two goals from Ludogorets after only 15 minutes as Jonathan Cafu and Claudiu Keseru scored. They however hauled themselves back into the match as Granit Xhaka and then Olivier Giroud netted.

Ozil’s sensational goal was however the highlight of the match having run onto a pass from Mohamed Elneny and scoring. It appears that’s exactly what he was there for following club manager Arsene Wenger’s remarks after:

“Great players make the right decisions in the game situations they face. They take the optimum solution. To me, it didn’t look like the optimum solution. You wanted him to take the chance earlier but he had enough skill to prove he was right. When the ball was in the back of the net, it was clear it had been the optimum solution.”

And an optimum solution that was as it is undoubtedly one of the best goals this season!
