Eight University of Nairobi (UoN) students have moved to court to challenge their expulsion following last month’s strike. They have filed an urgent suit contesting the decision by the university to dismiss them.

The six are complaining that they were not given a chance to defend themselves but were hurriedly accused and sent off.

The applicants said they were ambushed with a myriad of accusations and were denied an opportunity to defend themselves.
They are also seeking to restrain the university from preferring criminal charges against them as threatened in their letters of suspension. Judge Weldon Korir certified the matter as urgent.
