MOBILE APP THAT BLOCKS YOU FROM TEXTING WHILE DRIVING

unnamedThe App of the week goes to “Eyes on the Road”. Developed by Samsung, the app discourages use of smart phones while driving. It does this by preventing the users from texting while driving. Lemme save you from a lot of thinking; this is how it works: The app uses your phone’s sensor fusion technology and GSM(Global System for Mobile communications) cell towers which will estimate your speed and determine whether you are driving. If you are, it hides phone calls, SMSes and Social Media alerts until you slow down (to less than 20 km/h) or stop. It also sends auto-reply text saying that you are driving.  The app, however, does an injustice to passengers thus think that they are also driving. Computers still have a long way to reach man’s IQ. The app also gives you rewards for not using your phone while driving. It is yet to hit the Kenyan Android market soon. In the mean time, let’s not Drink and Drive
