Moi University has started searching for the right person to fill the vacancy in the VC position. Prof Isaac Kosgei, Prof J Chacha, Prof Ann Nangulu, Prof Samuel Gudu, Prof Joseph Rotich, Prof Maurice Amutabi, Prof Isaac Kibwage and the current acting VC, Prof. Laban Ayiro were included in the list. The interviews are set to be carried out next Monday.
“The following individuals are invited for the interview at Moi University, Main Campus in Kesses on Monday, November, 27, 2017,” read the advert by Dr. Jeremiah Ntoloi Koshal, the varsity council chairperson.
Prof. Ayiro, who used to be the director of quality assurance at the varsity, was appointed to the position last September after the expiry of Prof. Richard Mibey’s term. He was first appointed to act for three months though his term was extended by Education CS Fred Matiang’i.
Since taking over as VC of the institution of higher learning, Prof. Ayiro has received praise from many for turning around the university. Last month, the institution announced that they would shut down some of the campuses in Eldoret Town, including Kips and Kiptagich Plaza, in a move aimed at cutting down on costs. Prof Ayiro has been keen to consolidate university resources and boost quality of education at the institution.
