The Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has postponed the implementation of the new education curriculum for another year. The current education program will continue for a whole year before the new one is implemented. She said that the curriculum cannot be implemented at the moment due to some gaps in its development.

Cs Amina spoke to the press on Saturday and said that the old curriculum will continue this whole year to allow more time for the new curriculum to be implemented to allow conformation in teacher service training.

“There was no consideration of resources to facilitate new curriculum in schools. The study program was hastily introduced in schools. We have discussed with all stakeholders and agreed to push forward its rolling out to 2020,” Amina explained. The Cs said that the implementation of the new curriculum is complex so it requires more time. She said the implementation will be smooth and the teachers will be trained thoroughly.
