The Kenya Fashion Awards are holding their fifth anniversary this weekend at Michael Joseph centre dubbed ‘NextGen Fashion weekend’.
The award ceremony will be held in October (date yet to be confirmed). During this weekend, up and coming design talents will get a chance to show off their walks and their designs.
The main aim of the Kenya Fashion Awards is to give up and coming designers, fashion photographers, models, stylists, make-up artists, marketers, retailers, choreographers, fashion & design students and fashion writers exposure as well as provide entertainment and award those already in the industry. They then recognize and award those who have made significant contributions to the Kenyan Fashion Industry.
The first day is dedicated to emerging designers while the second day is dedicated to student designers.
The categories awarded this year at the final KFA ceremony (in October) include: Designer to Watch, EA Designer of the Year, Fashion Photographer of the Year, Make Up Artist of the Year, EA Magazine with the Best Fashion Segment, Fashion Blogger of the Year, Fashion Segment of the Year, Female Model of the Year, Male Model of the Year, Fashion Brand of the Year, Jewelry/Accessories Designer of the Year & Print with the best Fashion Segment (Newspaper). Head over to their official website to vote. Voting ends on the 30th September at midnight.
The main criteria considered when deciding on a winner for up and coming categories is trendiness, personal style, creativity and innovation. The past shows were great successes and we expect no less this year.
