City televangelist James Ng’ang’a has been in the police custody since yesterday after journalist Linus Kaikai wrote a statement to the police that the said pastor had threatened his life.
This comes days after a viral video of the pastor went around naming all sorts of threats to the journalist after the journalist held a discussion on how pastors are using their power to extort money from their followers.
Mr Ng’ang’a was charged at the Kiambu Law Courts today and granted Sh200,000 cash bail or Sh300,000 bond.
Mr Kaikai, the director of strategy and innovation at Royal Media Services, which owns Citizen TV, had filed an official complaint with the DCI.
The controversial preacher released a sensational video clip in social media issuing threats of unknown consequences against the journalist who had criticised rogue preachers and called for regulation of the religious sector, including a requirement of higher education for clerics.
