A 42 year-old man who was admitted in Nanyuki Hospital  died after being attacked by a patient on Friday night.

The late was allegedly hit on the head by a blunt object in the hospital’s male ward and sources say that the attacker, identified as Paul was admitted at the hospital and was suffering from hypertension and epilepsy.

Laikipia County health minister, Dr. Joseph Lenai, said Paul “abruptly” turned violent and attacked Mutuma with a blunt metallic rod, and, thereafter, pursued 6 other patients, whom he hit, leaving them with injuries on their bodies.

Paul also attacked two nurses at the hospital before he was contained.

It remains unclear where Paul got the weapon from.

Doctors say the suspect’s aggressive behaviour could have been caused by an epileptic attack.
