1. Lukenya Getaway Hotel

This laid-back hotel is 13 km from Athi River train station and 15 km from Nairobi National Park. It is one of Daystar University’s favorite student hang out venue. With it being in reach with just a fifteen minute walk or a ten minute drive from the school, this is where most students enjoy their weekends, birthday parties and even recess holidays. Some of its Facilities include 2 alcohol-free restaurants, a beach volleyball court and an outdoor pool with a bar.

2. Holiday Inn Hotel.

This is another three star hotel located in Machakos county. It is similarly a fifteen minute walk from Daystar University. Students frequent the hotel more because it is slightly cheaper than Lukenya Getaway. The hotel has played a big role in the social lives of students by offering internship positions once in a while. They also offer an alcohol free restaurant for the students and swimming pool services including having trainers to teach those new to the swimming practice how to do it. Most students visit the hotel because of the affordable food and the swimming experience.

3. Pine Breeze

Pine Breeze getaway is specifically for those who want to get away from all the noise and over population in school and the hostels. Pine breeze is mostly for the party goers and those who love the night life. Unlike Holiday Inn and Lukenya Getaway, Pine breeze does provide students with alcoholic drinks. It is also considered the best because the food is prepared on order. Students frequent the joint for nyama choma, good music and great rounds of fun.

4. Lukenya Motorcross.

The Lukenya Motorcross is also within Machakos County. It is another chill out spot that students in Daystar University frequent. The students purposefully go there to enjoy the quad biking, and motorbike off-road adventures through various terrains. The sessions last for 60 minutes, which should get your adrenaline-pumping as you take the 250cc or 90cc Honda all-terrain vehicles through the cross-country nature trails.

The centre offers a full safety briefing at the beginning of your session and crash helmets, boots and overalls are all provided as part of the package. This is considered by students as a way to let go after a long week or semester in school.
