As predicted by many, public universities did not open on Monday the 21st of August as they were expected to but instead they will open on Monday the 28th next week. The break was to allow for elections to run smoothly before students got back to school but now it has been extended for another week to allow students to get more rest after the tense election period in the country.
This is a disadvantage to some because the lecturers’ strike already ate up a lot of the students’ time. Some have missed an entire semester that they were supposed to have this year. Some are happy about this move while others are not.
Below are messages shared to Kenyatta University and University of Nairobi students.
