The day many Meru University students have been dreading is here. The late Meru University student leader Evans Njoroge is being laid to rest.

Njoroge, who served as the university’s secretary general is being buried at his father’s farm after he was allegedly shot dead by police last month, February 27, during a demonstration by the students.

According to witnesses, Njoroge had fled to a private compound after the demonstrations turned ugly and was pursued by police officers. Two armed police officers pursued him to the compound at Karebe Village and shot the deceased in the head as he fled.

Since then students have been adamant at trying to get rid of their VC and earlier this week he was issued a compulsory terminal leave.
